Inside Akya’s AM & PM Wellness Teas

Why what’s inside your cup matters
Tea is one of the most habitual things we consume. A morning cup to wake up. An evening cup to slow down. These days, most people reach for green tea believing it’s the healthier choice, and while that’s not wrong, it’s only a part of the picture.
When we started working on Akya’s AM Ritual Tea and PM Unwind Tea, our intention wasn’t to replace tea as a habit. It was to improve it. It was to help people move from plain green teas to blends that still contain green tea leaves, but are thoughtfully paired with potent herbs that support the body at different times of the day.
From Regular Green Teas to Purposeful Blends
Traditional green tea offers antioxidants and mild stimulation, but on its own, it is limited in its benefits. However, morning needs are different from evening needs, yet most people drink the same tea throughout the day.
Whereas Akya’s AM Ritual Tea and PM Unwind Tea were created to bring structure to that routine.
Both blends contain green tea leaves, but they go a step further. They are paired with carefully chosen herbs that either support alertness and digestion in the morning, or calm and balance the nervous system in the evening.
Why does the form of the tea matter?
One thing we noticed while researching the teas was how often powdered residues and crushed leftovers are used in the blends. These forms are easier to source and process, but they strip tea of its natural balance and flavour.
At Akya, we chose to work with real, whole tea leaves. They steep slowly and release their compounds gently while retaining aroma, flavour depth, and natural complexity. They also create a cleaner cup, without residue settling at the bottom or bitterness that needs to be masked.
This choice affects everything from taste to how the tea feels in the body.
Let’s now look closer at the key ingredients for both the products:
AM Ritual Tea
It starts with whole green tea leaves for a gentle lift of caffeine, not the jittery kind. It is balanced with ginger, known to wake up digestion and circulation, while lemongrass adds a light citrus note that feels refreshing rather than sharp. Tulsi leaves bring adaptogenic calm and mental clarity, helping the body respond better to daily stress, and peppermint ties it all together by soothing the gut and clearing the mental fog.
The result is a morning tea that feels familiar like green tea, but works harder by supporting focus, digestion, and steady energy from the very first cup.
PM Unwind Tea
It is designed for the hours when your body needs to slow down without feeling sedated. Chamomile flowers form the base, gently calming the nervous system and supporting digestion after a long day. Lemon balm adds a grounding effect, helping ease anxious thoughts, while lavender buds bring a subtle aromatherapeutic calm that signals the body it is time to rest. Licorice root supports adrenal balance, which especially becomes important after prolonged stress, and peppermint keeps the blend light by aiding digestion and preventing heaviness.
Together, these herbs create an evening ritual that helps you unwind naturally and transition into rest without forcing sleep.
Why this approach matters at Akya?
Two teas which list similar ingredients can still feel completely different. Often, the difference lies in how those ingredients are sourced and processed.
Whole leaves, thoughtful pairings, and time-specific formulations allow tea to become more than a habit. They turn it into a daily support system that works with your body, not against it.
Because sometimes, the most effective changes are not about adding more. They are about choosing better forms of what already fits into your life.
And, that’s exactly how we think about teas at Akya.
